What is EFT tapping?
The plain-language version, with no claims stacked on top.
By the end of this lessonExplain in a sentence what EFT is and what it is not.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a self-applied practice: you hold a specific upsetting thing in mind, say out loud what is actually true about it, and tap gently on a short sequence of acupressure points while you do.
Three ingredients are doing the work: brief exposure (you face the thing instead of avoiding it), cognitive framing (you say it honestly and pair it with self-acceptance), and physical stimulation of the points. Clinical EFT is simply the manualised, research-tested version of that combination.
What EFT is not: a medical treatment, a diagnosis, a replacement for therapy, or a guarantee. It is a self-regulation skill you can use in two minutes before you react.
- Exposure + cognitive framing + acupoint tapping.
- You always name the real thing, not a nicer version of it.
- Self-guided practice, not treatment.
